Jessica Hull (AUS) ran to a silver medal in Saturday's 1500-meter final.
A daily recap and preview of current and former UO athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Games.

The Day That Was …
On the final day of athletics at Stade de France, Jessica Hull made Olympics history for her home country when she became the first Australian woman to medal in the 1500 meters. Hull claimed the silver medal with a time of 3:52.56 in Saturday's final, holding off a hard-charging Georgia Bell (GBR) who crossed in 3:52.61 for bronze.

Hull becomes the second Oregon medalist in Paris along with Cole Hocker who won the men's 1500, and she is now the eighth UO woman to win an Olympic medal.

Current Duck and Polish champion Klaudia Kazimierska, once again, lowered her lifetime best and school record to 4:00.12 in a 10th-place effort. The time also strengthens her No. 3 spot on the all-time, all-date collegiate list.

Susan Ejore (KEN) was sixth overall in 3:56.07, doubling as a new personal best. Additionally, Nikki Hiltz, who competed for Oregon in 2015 before finishing their career at Arkansas, was seventh in 3:56.38.

In the final event of the day, Shana Grebo and France ran a national record of 3:21.41 and finished fifth in the women's 4x400 relay. Grebo ran a 49.75 split on the second leg for her home country. In her first Olympics appearance, she was also a semifinalist in the 400-meter hurdles

U.S. Trials runner-up Alaysha Johnson was seventh in the final of the 100-meter hurdles. She was stride for stride with the leaders early but after clipping the third hurdle, Johnson was thrown off pattern and fell back. She finished in 12.93 to close out her first trip to the Olympics.

A Look Ahead …
The U.S. women's basketball team will seek an eighth-consecutive Olympics gold medal when it meets host France Sunday at 6:30 a.m. PT. Team USA beat Australia in Friday's semifinal round, 85-64. Sabrina Ionescu had eight points in the victory. France held off Belgium in overtime in the other semifinal game.
