Schroeder Hits Milestone in Win vs Utah

Ducks split two matches Friday at the Pac-12 North Invitational.
SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon beach volleyball team picked up a 3-2 win over Utah to earn a split on day one of the Pac-12 North Invitational at Alki Beach. In the Ducks' win over Utah, senior Ashley Schroeder became the second player in program history to reach 40-career dual victories.
Match 1 | #18 Arizona 5, Oregon 0
The Ducks forced three sets at the No. 1 and 2 spots against 18th-ranked Arizona but the Wildcats came away with the 5-0 win overall. Daley McClellan and Alina Valenti won the opening frame in the top spot but Olivia McElroy and Abby Russell rallied for the 23-25, 21-15, 15-11 triumph in the final match of the dual.
During the first wave, Jensen Kaelin and Ashley Schroeder used a quick start in the second to pull even with Annie Kost and Hope Shannon and force a decisive third. However, the Arizona duo held steady in the 21-9, 17-21, 15-11 decision.

The Ducks took an early 2-0 lead with sweeps at the No. 2 and 4 spots in the lineup. Natasha George and Sophie Gregoire were the first pair off the court followed by the 21-15, 21-15 milestone for Schroeder in tandem with Kaelin. Schroeder joins Bea Wetton in the Ducks' 40-win club; Wetton tallied 45 victories in her UO career.
Landree Coats and Bella Gamache clinched the team win with their 19-21, 21-17, 15-9 result over Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Coats and Gamache lead the Ducks with five wins as a pair.
