
Ducks Drop Pac-12 Opener

BOULDER, Colo. – The 55th-ranked Oregon women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Friday, as the Ducks dropped their Pac-12 opener at No. 60 Colorado 4-2 at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center
UO (8-4, 0-1 Pac-12) failed to clinch the doubles point for just the third time this season. The Buffaloes' top two pairs were victorious to give CU a 1-0 lead as the match headed to singles play.
Playing on just three courts, the top three in the lineup from each side squared off first. Uxia Martinez Moral promptly evened the score with a straight-set victory at No. 3, defeating Mila Stanojevic 6-0, 6-2. The win marked Martinez Moral's team-leading ninth of the spring season.
Jo-Yee Chan followed closely with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Elys Ventura on court two, giving the Ducks a 2-1 advantage. The win gave Chan her eighth spring singles win to tie for second on the team.
Colorado responded with a win at No. 1, tying the match again at 2-2 4s the final three matches took center stage.
Straight-set wins at Nos. 4 and 5 clinched Colorado's 11th straight victory. UO's lead in the all-time series is cut to 14-13, with the Buffs winning two straight after the Ducks had won three consecutive matches in the series.
The Ducks conclude their Pac-12-opening weekend at No. 47 Utah on Sunday (10 a.m. PT).
