
Ducks Fall Short in ITA Kickoff

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Oregon men's tennis team closed play at the ITA Kickoff with a 4-2 loss against Vanderbilt.
The Ducks picked up the first point of the match with two solid doubles victories to take the point. Quinn Vandecasteele and Mathew Burton defeated Jeremie Casabon and Nathan Cox 6-3, while Avi Shugar and Lachlan Robertson picked up a 6-4 win on court three over Juan Lopez and Hugo Coquelin.
Oregon took a 2-0 lead once singles got underway, after Vlad Breazu defeated Joubert Klopper 6-3, 6-3. Things then shifted the way of the Commodores. Courts six, five, one and four went the way of Vanderbilt to take the four points needed to clinch the match. Zian Vanderstappen's match on court three went unfinished.

Freshman Lenn Luemkemann picked up a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 singles win over John Chin. Matthew Burton also earned a point for the Ducks defeating Boise State's Jan Lucca Marquardt 6-1, 7–5.
With Boise State taking the next three singles points, the match was tied 3-3 with Ray Lo battling in the final match on court five. The Broncos' Jett Middleton won the first set 7-6, but Lo came back to win the second 6-4. With the third set tied 6-6, Lo battled through seven set points before ultimately dropping the third set in a 12-10 tiebreaker.
