The Ducks' 2022 postseason got started Friday morning in Riverside, Calif.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Oregon cross country team began its postseason schedule Friday with the Pac-12 Championships at the UCR Agricultural Ops Course in Riverside, Calif.
The 12th-ranked Women of Oregon turned in a bronze performance Friday morning with their top seven all finishing inside the top 40 including a trio of all-conference efforts. Izzy Thornton-Bott, in her debut at the meet, ran to a fourth-place finish for first-team honors and Harper McClain and Emilie Girard in 11th and 14th place, respectively, earned spots on the All-Pac-12 Second Team.
Paced by a runner-up showing by Aaron Bienenfeld, the No. 15 UO men finished in fourth place with its top five inside the top 30. Bienenfeld's effort is the men's highest Pac-12 finish since Cooper Teare was second in 2019. The effort was his second top-five conference finish as a Duck having placed fifth at the 2021 meet in Salt Lake City.

In the first race of the day, Thornton-Bott navigated the 6K course in a time of 19:27.4 and was the first UO runner across the line for a second-consecutive meet. She also paced the Ducks at the Nuttycombe Invitational two weeks ago in Wisconsin. McClain and Girard were 20th and 22nd, respectively, a year ago but improved in standing this season to grab all-conference honors.
Klaudia Kazimierska appeared in the Ducks' top five for the first time this season, having been the Ducks' sixth runner in the past two meets. She finished 26th overall in 20:02.4, and was followed by Malia Pivec (20:05.5) in 31st to round out the top five.
In the men's 8K, Bienenfeld stuck with the lead pack throughout and used a sprint down the final chute to come away with second place. He crossed in 22:37.2 to lead the Ducks for a third-consecutive meet. Abdinasir Hussein made a 16-spot improvement from last year's Pac-12 meet. He finished in a time of 23:16.7, good for 17th place overall.
Quincy Norman was the third UO runner across the line in 23:32.92 and 21st place. In another set of Pac-12 debuts, Cameron Stein and James Gormley finished in 25th and 30th, respectively, to round out the UO men's top-five lineup.
Just differing in order, it was the same top five for the Men of Oregon at the Dellinger Invitational.
