Ducks In Seventh After Round One

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon women's golf team is in seventh place at the Pac-12 Championships after finishing with a 13-over 297 in the opening round on Friday at Stanford Golf Course.
How it Happened: Sophomore Briana Chacon continued her breakout season to lead the Ducks, firing an even-par 71 to sit in a tie for eighth place individually after 18 holes, four shots off the lead. Chacon was 2 over through eight holes before going 2 under the rest of the way with birdies at No. 9 and No. 18.
Freshman Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu finished one shot back of Chacon with a 1-over 72, shooting even par on the front nine and one over on the back to put her in a tie for 12th overall. Sophomore Ching-Tzu Chen came in with a 3-over 74, and Tze-Han (Heather) Lin rounded out the scoring with a 9-over 80.
The Ducks are within eight shots of second-place Stanford (+5), with USC opening up a six-shot lead on the field after firing a 1-under 283.
