
Charlton and Vandecasteele Advance to Finals of Jack Kramer Invitational

LOS ANGELES – Oregon men's tennis double's team Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele each advanced to the finals of the Jack Kramer Invitational on Saturday. They each started the day with singles victories, playing on in the semifinals bracket of singles play.
The No. 1 overall seed in the tournament won two matches this afternoon, after each advancing in singles, leaving them undefeated on the day. After a first round bye, the team beat UCSB's Brady and Masjuan 8-6, before making quick work of Carlsson Halldin and Summaria of Pepperdine.
They will look to bring home the championship on Sunday, when they face off against Arizona's Malbasic and Hassey at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
In the morning singles play, Vandecasteele defeated Arizona's Filip Malbasic with a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 win. He will face off against U of A's Corrado Summaria on Sunday morning in the semifinals. Charlton also started the day defeating an Arizona Wildcat, with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win over Carlos Hassey.
On Friday, Charlton battled it out with Gianluca Brunkow (UCSB) to earn a three-set victory, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4. He followed that up with an afternoon victory over Johannes Seeman (SDSU), 6-4, 6-4.
Vandecasteele outplayed UCLA's Blaine Hovenier with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win. He then went on to defeat Joe Taylor (SDSU), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a heated battle.
