EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 31 University of Oregon men's tennis team lost its first home match of the year Sunday in a 4-2 setback to Utah. Individually, freshman Joshua Charlton pushed his winning streak to 14 in singles play with a straight-set victory on court four. With the team result, the Ducks are 13-3 overall with a 1-1 mark in Pac-12 play.

Up Next: Oregon will play its next four matches on the road beginning with a trip to the Arizona schools next weekend. The Ducks' next home match is April 19 against Stanford.

Paired with junior Ty Gentry in the No. 1 spot of the doubles' lineup, Charlton picked up his first victory (6-3) of the day. The duo is 10-3 dating back to the fall season, and has won seven of 10 in dual action. However, the visiting Utes took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.

Playing without fourth-ranked Thomas Laurent, the Ducks had to shift their singles lineup, which moved everyone up from their usual spot. Sophomore Riki Oshima put Oregon on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot. Oshima has now won nine of his last 10 including seven in a row.

Charlton followed with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at the No. 4 spot. With the win, he improves to 18-3 overall this season and remains undefeated (14-0) in dual play. The wins by Oshima and Charlton gave Oregon the 2-1 match lead before Utah (14-7, 1-3 Pac-12) pulled even with a victory on court five.

The remaining three court—No. 1, 2 and 6—were all extended to a third set but the Utes pulled through with wins on courts one and six. At the top spot, sophomore Emmanuel Coste took the first set from No. 42 Dan Little but the Utes' top player rallied with a break in each of the next two sets to clinch.
