
Ducks Take Second at Bruin Wave Invite

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Oregon women's golf team took second place out of a strong field on Tuesday at the Bruin Wave Invitational at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
Oregon has played in two spring tournaments now, finishing in the top-5 both times.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks were in second after round one and on top of the team leaderboard after round two, but finished four strokes back of No. 5 ranked Stanford after round three. Oregon finished ahead of No. 17 Arizona State, No. 4 UCLA, No. 14 Northwestern and No. 28 Washington.
On the individual side, the Ducks placed both seniors Petra Salko and Kathleen Scavo in the top-10.
Salko shot a 5-over 221 (73-73-75) to finish alone in second place, the best finish of her career. Salko's previous best was fifth at the SunTrust Gator Invite in March 2018. Salko's consistency helped her to second at the Bruine Wave, shooting 1-over in round one, 1-over in round two and three over in round three.
Scavo was in first after two rounds but shot a 9-over 81 in the final round to finish tied for eighth with a 9-over 225 (73-71-81). Freshman Tze-Han Lin was also in the top-20, tying for 18th. Lin shot a 12-over 228 (75-78-75).
DEEP DIVE: Oregon had a tournament-best 177 pars...UO tallied 25 birdies...The Ducks led the field, averaging a 4.27 on par 4s...Salko was second at the event, averaging a 4.75 on par 5s and a 2.92 on par 3s...Matsuoka (39), Salko (38) and Tze-Han Lin (37) were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, at the tournament in total pars.
