Fall Season Ends at ITA Fall nationals

EUGENE, Ore. – The fall season for the Oregon men's tennis team came to a conclusion Saturday with a pair of semifinal losses at the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The Ducks' week in Arizona was highlighted by senior Thomas Laurent who advanced to the semifinals at the prestigious event for a second-consecutive season.
Laurent finished the week with four wins over nationally ranked opponents before falling to the nation's top-ranked player in the semifinals. With a 7-2 record through the first two months of his senior season, Laurent is set to enter the team-dual season with an 82-22 career mark. That win total ranks fourth in UO history.

Quarterfinal: def. #41 Adria Sorriano Barrera (Miami) – 7-6(1), 7-5
Semifinal: lost to No. 1 Petros Chrysochos (Wake Forest) – 6-1, 6-2
Coste's first semester as a Duck featured a team-high 10 wins (10-3) and a tournament title at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Seattle.

Second Round: def. Rrezart Cungu (Wake Forest) – 6-4, 2-6, 6-1*
Round of 16: lost to Josh Peck (North Carolina) – 6-4, 6-0*
The new duo of Laurent and Joshua Charlton teamed up to win seven of nine matches including two wins at the ITA fall finale. The Ducks pushed the sixth-ranked doubles team to three sets in the semifinal round of the consolation bracket. Laurent and Charlton won the doubles titles at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, the second-consecutive regional crown for the program.
