How it Happened: Due to the second round being called on Saturday, the Ducks had three holes to complete before moving onto the third and final round. Redshirt sophomore Ryan Gronlund provided a birdie on the 16th hole, while freshman Kevin Geniza finished the 18th hole in two strokes. Clark, freshman Norman Xiong, Gronlund and Geniza all added bogeys, giving the Ducks a second round total of 363, and in fifth place at 16-over.
To begin the third round, the Ducks slipped to 8th after some trouble with bogeys and double bogeys through the first six holes. Gronlund was leading the Ducks tied at 26.
Clark, Lett, and Yi all came in clutch with birdies on the hole 7 and 9 to give Oregon a nudge back up to fifth place. Through the front nine, Yi propelled himself to a tie for eighth at 1-over.
Back-to-back birdies on hole 10 and 11 gave Xiong cushion and moved him up to a tie for 12th at 3-over.
With closing holes to go, Oregon was +18, five strokes behind second place Stanford, while USC had given themselves a comfortable lead at 5-under. Geniza had a nice Eagle on the 13th hole – his best hole of the tournament.
To close out the tournament, Clark had a birdie on the 18th hole giving him a 1-over finish, tying for fifth overall. Xiong had the second best finish for the Ducks at 2-over (72-70-70—212). Gronlund tied for 11th overall (70-74-69—213, +3). Lett (73-75-74—222. +12) and Geniza (76-73-74—223, +13) rounded out the Oregon lineup tying for 53rd and 57th, respectively.
