Ducks Defeat Huskies, 4-3

EUGENE, Ore. – The women's tennis team defeated Washington 4-3 in their second Pac-12 match of the season on Sunday at the Student Tennis Center.
The Ducks won their eighth straight match, while improving to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in Pac-12 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the No. 3 doubles match, Daniela Nasser and Christi Woodson battled with the Huskies early, but UW took control and pulled away with a 6-3 win. Nia Rose and Alyssa Tobita give the Ducks a life in the No. 2 doubles match, winning 6-4. The No. 1 doubles match was back and forth until the end. Kennan Johnson and Shweta Sangwan were down, but came back to tie the match, entering a tiebreaker, but lost, 8-6, to No. 37 Abbes and Kobayashi. The Ducks fell 1-2 to the Huskies in doubles.
The Ducks made a comeback during singles play. Christi Woodson was the first to finish on No. 6, falling to Sophia Bott in two sets 6-1, 6-2. Then Nia Rose turned up the heat for the Ducks, winning the first set on No. 3, 6-4, and the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6. Kennan Johnson came back and won her match on No. 1 after falling, 6-1, in the first set, she won the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, and took the third set, 6-3, for her 16th overall win of the season.
In the No. 4 singles match, Shweta Sangwan battled back after losing the first set, 6-2, to win the final two 6-2, 6-2 and reach 18 wins for her freshman season. Alyssa Tobita clinched the win for the Ducks in three sets on No. 2, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, over 105th-ranked Stacey Fung for her 10th straight. Tobita remains a perfect 10-0 in dual play.
On No. 5, Daniela Nasser fell short in the final two sets, despite taking the first set in a 7-6 tiebreaker.
