Ducks Drop Pac-12 Opener to OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon men's basketball team dropped its Pac-12 opener to Oregon State 70-57 on Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum.
How It Happened: After a slow start, the Ducks (11-3, 0-1 Pac-12) found themselves in a 9-3 hole in the opening minutes of the game. Oregon clawed back to cut the deficit to 11-10 with 13:18 left to play in the first half, but the Beavers answered with an eight-minute, 20-4 run to separate the teams for good. Oregon trailed 34-19 at the break, the largest halftime deficit for the Ducks this season.
Turnovers and difficulty controlling the boards plagued the Ducks in the first half. Oregon turned it over eight times for 11 Oregon State points, and allowed 10 OSU offensive rebounds for 11 second-chance points in the period.
The teams traded buckets for much of the second half. Down the stretch, the Ducks were able to trim the Beaver lead to as few as eight, but it seemed that the Beavers had an answer to every Oregon score to keep the Ducks at an arm's length. A late 7-0 run would seal the victory for OSU.
Who Stood Out: Chris Boucher led the way for the Ducks, scoring 13 of his 16 points in the second half, including two three-pointers. Boucher wound up with a final line of 16 points, seven rebounds and a block. Dillon Brooks added 13 points. Dorsey was the third Duck in double figures with 10 points.
