
UO's Season Ends with Loss to WSU in Pac-12 Tournament

SEATTLE, Wash. – Lexi Petersen's game-winning three left her hand just a split second too late and the Ducks' 2014-15 season ended with a 66-64 loss Thursday to Washington State in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
The Ducks end the season with a 13-17 record. Oregon's three meetings with WSU this season were decided by a combined six points.
How It Happened: Oregon had an early lead on Washington State but the Cougars used a 7-0 run to take a 13-9 lead with 12:25 left in the first half.
Jordan Loera answered with a three-pointer to stop the run and the Ducks countered on a 13-2 run and led 22-15 with 8:41 remaining in first half. Jillian Alleyne hit her first ever three-pointer as part of the run. Oregon led by as much as nine points in the first half before Washington State retook the lead, 30-29, with 2:18 to play in the first.
Lexi Bando answered with a three on the other end and Alleyne made back-to-back layups to give Oregon a 36-30 advantage with a minute left before halftime. After trading buckets, the Ducks took a 38-33 lead into the break. Alleyne had 10 points and nine rebounds at halftime while Bando had eight points. The Ducks shot 64 percent in the first half but 10 turnovers kept the game close.
Back-to-back threes by Lexi Petersen to start the second half gave the Ducks a nine-point edge but Washington State's Lia Galdeira answered with a pair of threes of her own to cut the Ducks' lead to 44-41 with 15:59 left to play. WSU capped a 13-0 run with a layup to take a 48-44 lead with 12:50 remaining. The Cougars pushed its lead to 55-48 with 7:48 to go as the run continued at 20-4.
The Ducks battled back and eventually Oregon cut it to a two-point game on a Drea Toler steal and score, 66-64, with 1:04 remaining. The Ducks got a stop on defense but missed a contested layup on the other end with nine seconds left and WSU grabbed the rebound. Oregon fouled and WSU missed the front end of a 1-and-1. Toler sprinted up the court and kicked out for a three but Petersen's banked in three-pointer was shot a half second too late and did not count.
Stat Sheet: Alleyne had her 28th double-double of the season with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Petersen added 12 points while Bando scored 11 points, including three three-pointers. Katelyn Loper added eight. In addition to her 12 points, Petersen grabbed six rebounds and had five assists.
450+ Rebound Seasons: With her 13th rebound of the game, Jillian Alleyne became just the fourth player in NCAA history to reach 450+ rebounds in back to back seasons, joining Oklahoma's Courtney Paris (2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009), Drake's Wanda Ford (1985 & 1986) and Mississippi Valley's Darlene Jones (1982 & 1983).
Records Watch: After grabbing 18 rebounds against the Cougars, Alleyne is now just 18 rebounds away from matching Bev Smith's all-time UO record of 1,362. Going into her senior year next season, Alleyne has 1,344 in her career.
Pac-12 Tourney: Oregon is now 4-14 all-time in the Pac-12 Tournament. The Ducks last won a game in the Pac-12 Tournament in 2008 when the tournament was in San Jose, Calif.
