Post-Game Quotes: Oregon vs. Western Oregon
12/30/15 | Men's Basketball
Dana Altman – Head Coach, Oregon
On impressions of Western Oregon's late first half run…
“I was disappointed. I didn't think we were very sharp, we jumped on them early but then we got really casual with the eighteen turnovers and trying too much. We didn't execute well so not very sharp. Late, we did things a lot better and worn them down, but for a long time they played harder than we did.”
On the holiday break affecting the players focus…
“That's an excuse. We had four days off but had a couple good days of practice and started the game really well so that kind of throws that excuse out. The ball movement was pretty good and we jumped out to the big lead but then we gave up some easy baskets and let them back into it.”
On how Dylan Ennis looked in his first game…
“It's just going to take time. He's been out for eight weeks now and you don't just turn it off and on like a light switch. His leadership quality, defensively, all those things he can give us will be great to have back. We had a ten minute restriction on him tonight and we will slowly build that up but you can't rush him back.”
On if he thinks his team is ready for Pac-12 play…
“I really don't know. Usually this time your veterans are settled in but with Dylan (Ennis) not being settled in it's harder. I think Elgin (Cook) and the other guys who have been here a little longer are more prepared because they've done it before. It's going to be a work in progress and we will get ready this next three or four days and give it our best shot.”
Tyler Dorsey – Freshman, Guard
On the sloppy first half…
“I think we didn't come out with intensity and we were relaxed and slacking on defense because we didn't come in prepared. Even though it's Western Oregon, we didn't come in with the right mentality.”
“We wanted to use this game to get ready for Pac-12, but these next couple days we're going to prepare, work on what we see in film, what we did bad in this game and come in more focused.”
On Dylan Ennis' return…
“We're glad to have him back. We can't wait until he gets back fully to help our team, and we're going to be pretty dangerous when we have a full, healthy roster.”
On the Oregon State rivalry…
“I know it's a big rivalry. They don't like us, and we don't like them. I'm just excited to play them coming up this Sunday.”
Elgin Cook – Senior, Forward
On his big second half…
“We were just reading how they were playing. Tyler (Dorsey) threw me the ball on the post a couple times and I just wanted to take my time and be patient and finish.”
On the upcoming matchup with Oregon State…
“That was the toughest road game I think we had last year. It's loud and Oregon State doesn't like us, so we just need to come together as a team. We can't have the type of lapses that we had today.”
On the 11-2 start…
“We can be a lot better. We just need to get back on that practice floor, listen to coach, execute and just come together as a team. We just need to focus on the game plan.”
