Ahmaad Rorie – Oregon Guard, Freshman
On the win…
“I think we played pretty good, but we just have to get off to a better start. That was the main thing Coach Altman was talking to us about was just a better start. He thinks we have to change something around, the starting lineup, warm-up, something. “
On the debut of Michael Chandler…
“He had a real big impact. He was posting up real well, he had his hands up and he actually wanted the ball so we tried to feed him. I think he still needs to work on his conditioning but he was playing real hard, so we're looking forward to him being back on the team.”
On the impact Joseph Young had…
“He was just making plays tonight. Whether it was passing or shooting, he was just doing what he's good at. He definitely was leading tonight when we were down.”
Dana Altman-Head Coach
On starting the game off down 16-9…
“We've made a habit of getting down early, that's two exhibition games and seven games. The lineup has to change, the warm up has to change, bad speech before the game has got to change, something has to change. We come out of the game really slow every time, not just once or twice, it's been pretty consistent. I've been disappointed we come out lackadaisical, straight up and down, focus and intensity not very good so things have got to change.”
On Joe's shots today…
“He still needs to keep being real conservative and look for good shots. He got himself in trouble because he took some quick ones and some tough ones: got off track a little bit. But the last two games he has done a great job of picking and choosing what shots he wants and because of that, his percentages have gone up.”
On handling the 2-3 zone…
“We stand around. We don't push it, our guards are pounding it too much, and we aren't penetrating gaps. We have got to do a better job so we have a lot to work on there.”
On Michael Chandler's first game…
“He gave us a big lift. Did a good job, posted up strong and guys did a really good job looking for him. He is a presence in there, and for the first time out not having many practices, he did a good job for seven minutes.”
