Matthew Knight Arena, 4/1/11

Head coach Dana Altman
On the win tonight:
“I thought Creighton played really well. The difference in the game was the home crowd. Our fans were great.”
On Joevan Catron:
“It was great to have him in the Oregon uniform and scoring 29 points in his last game here.”
“He was a great leader this year and he kept up the team through a few bad losing streaks.”
“Joevan is a competitor, he has proven that all year long. He made big plays. I can't say enough about him, we depended on him for a lot all year.”
On the half-court line controversial call:
“It was unfortunate. We were denying the inbounds play and our guys did a good job pushing him (Antoine Young) back. It was fortunate for us and we just got the breaks.”
On the momentum going in to next season:
“The momentum will be important if they use it and work their tails off. They have to invest in the program like Joevan has these past five years. We have to out work everyone and play hard."
“We have a lot of work to do. There will be no breaks. The recruiting period starts next Thursday and we have a lot of work to do with this years' class and the Junior class."
On expectations going in to next season:
“We want expectations. Next year the league is going to be tougher and we're going to have to get a lot better. Higher expectations is a good thing. It just adds to the work we have to do as a team, for the players, and as the coaching staff.”
On beating Creighton, his former school:
“It is hard to wish against them after coaching them for 16 years. It's hard to see the heartbreak in their eyes. I'm a lucky coach because I have gotten at special places. I don't feel very good about winning because I know and am close to those guys.”

Creighton Head Coach Greg McDermott
On the loss:
“It's tough, it's really tough. This is a beautiful building and a great atmosphere, but I just wish there was a half court line.”
“I am proud of my team. It was a great college basketball game.”
On the half-court line controversy:
“I can't see it from coaching. It's a tough spot to be in, and there is no point of reference when you are getting close to the line.”
On what improved from the previous game:
“The travel impacted us and I think both teams competed well tonight.”
On the benefit of playing in the CBI:
“These four extra weeks of practice and games have been invaluable. We got to extend the careers of four valuable seniors and give the younger guys more experience too.”

Sophomore Forward E.J. Singler
On Joevan Catron:
“I was happy to see go out like this and end the post season in the right way.”
“Joe's been out backbone and this really showed how much we have meant to him and how much we have meant to him and how much Oregon has meant to him.”
On the CBI Tournament:
“This tournament has helped us create a lot of confidence for going into next year.”
“Our goal is to make into the NCAA tournament and this has truly helped us move in the right direction and has given us the experience.”
On the Half Court Line Controversy:
“I'm happy they made our court like that and it played in our favor.”
“Our court has a different feeling that you don't see anywhere else and, like today, it worked in our advantage.”

Senior Forward Joevan Catron
On Winning the College Basketball Invitational:
“It's a great feeling. We set a goal to win the whole tournament and we achieved our goal. It feels great after the season we have had.”

“It's tougher playing the same team multiple times and it's tough when they know our plays just like we do.”
On Career:
“It's been a long, hard ride and tonight was it. Win or lose, this makes it great.”
“I will remember this season as a win; you don't want to go out on a loss.”
“This was a great experience for me, it got me out of my environment and it opened a lot of doors.”
