No. 15 Ducks Down Stags, 3-1

CAL POLY - The No. 15 University of Oregon softball team (27-4) opened Mustang Classic day two with a 3-1 win over Fairfield (8-8) Saturday at Bob Janssen Field.
Sophomore Samantha Pappas drove in UO's first two runs on singles in the first and third innings. Senior Monique Fuiava followed with another RBI single in the third inning - her 17th RBI the last eight games.
Pappas and freshman lead-off hitter Courtney Ceo both went 2-for-3, and four others hit safely (Allie Burger , Kelsey Chambers , Christie Nieto , Ashley Kivett ).
In her third complete game of the season, junior Samanatha Skillingstad (8-0) struck out nine and walked none. The Spokane, Wash., native allowed two hits with the first a home run to leadoff hitter Kristen Filicia in the fourth inning.
Fairfield starter Sarah Minice (4-4) struck out four, walked one, gave up nine hits, and two of her three runs allowed were earned.
At the plate, Kristen Filicia and Rae Ball shared the Stags' two hits.
Looking ahead, UO has another game scheduled against UNLV immediately after on Saturday. The Ducks topped the Rebels, 11-3, in five innings in their first meeting Friday, and UO also beat host Cal Poly, 8-1.
