Oregon vs Weber St. 68-59
March 16, 2011
Matthew Knight Arena- Eugene, Ore.
-----------------------------------------------
Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
On tonight's game:
“It was obvious that Joevan (Catron) didn't want to end his career.”
“The first half, our offense was stagnant. Zero of eleven three pointers isn't good. But the second half the team had more bounce and played a lot better.”
On 0-11 three pointers at the end of the first half:“We just couldn't get any of those shots to fall. Threes give tremendous energy and we just couldn't get anything going. The crowd had a lot of energy and wanted us to hit those shots but we just couldn't.”
On the Joevan Catron:
“The energy and passion shows how important he is to our team. He did a lot of good things tonight.”
On playing in the College Basketball Invitational:
“As a coach, you just want to keep playing. It's not the same atmosphere but a game is a game. Our guys just want to play, have a passion for the game and a great work ethic.”
“It's not the NCAA tournament or even the NIT but the guys just want to compete and are passionate.”
On the CBI giving younger players experience in postseason tournaments:
“It is still postseason experience. It's not what we aspire to be but it helps give guys coming back some experience. We want to be in other tournaments but the CBI gives us a great opportunity. We want to move upward.”
On playing Duquesne on Monday:
“I know that they are a good, athletic, physical team. I have played a lot of teams from the Atlantic Ten Conference and they are always physical teams. They are a basketball conference because they don't have football. They take pride in their basketball programs. We will need to play well to win."

Sophomore forward E.J. Singler
On playing at home tonight:
“Playing at home is always comfortable, but basketball is basketball and you always have to defend and rebound no matter where you are. I really appreciate the fans and students that come support us, we have great fans.”
On the second half:
“We changed the things we needed to change at half time and I was happy that we got those things going. We started making better plays and did better in the second half.”
On Joevan Catron: “Joevan has put in lots of years and work for us. We feel like we have to get it done from him and play as many games as we can for him.”
-------------------------------------------
Senior forward Joevan Catron
On the game:
“We grinded it out and won the game with hard work and defense since our shots weren't falling.”
On how our team changed at halftime:
“We only took four three's after half time on purpose. We had to get them moving, start penetrating the ball and getting free throws and baskets because the three's weren't falling.”
On each game potentially being his last:
“I don't want to see it end, I love playing for the Ducks and I don't want it to end. I put emphasis on my team saying I don't want this to be my last game and they go out and play hard.”
On the ovation from the crowd:
“It felt good; they see the hard work I put in. They are great fans.”
