Ducks Top ASU, Advance to Face UCLA

LOS ANGELES (AP) - E.J. Singler scored a career-high 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and Oregon defeated Arizona State 76-69 in the first round of the Pac-10 tournament on Wednesday night.
The seventh-seeded Ducks (15-16) advanced to Thursday's quarterfinals against No. 2 seed UCLA.
Trent Lockett scored 22 points and Jamelle McMillan and Rihards Kuksiks added 11 points each for Arizona State (12-19), which swept the Ducks in the regular season, including a 73-53 win last Thursday.
Oregon went 11 of 19 from 3-point range, the most given up by the 10th-seeded Sun Devils this season. Singler's four 3s tied his career high as the Ducks snapped a four-game losing streak. They beat Arizona State for the first time since March 6, 2008.
POSTGAME NOTES
- It was the first 20-point effort of E.J. Singler's career at Oregon (63 career games). Singler has led the team in scoring six times in his three years with the Ducks, with all of those coming this year.
- Singler shot a career-high 80 percent on 3-pointers (4-of-5), and matched a career-best with four made 3-pointers. His eight made field goals was also a career-high.
- The Ducks shot a season-high 57.9 percent (11-of-19) on 3-pointers. The previous season-best was 52.9 percent (9-of-17) in their road win over Stanford on Jan. 27.
- Oregon made seven 3-pointers in the first half (7-of-12, 58.3%), the most UO has made in the first 20 minutes of a game this season. It was also the highest 3-point field goal percentage the Ducks have produced in a first half this season.
- The Ducks are now 10-3 on the season when the grab more rebounds and 11-4 overall when holding a lead at the half.
- Tyrone Nared (nine rebounds) led UO in rebounding for the sixth time this season. Four of those boards were of the offensive variety.
- Malcolm Armstead reached double figures in scoring for the 12th time this season (27th time of his career).
- Armstead (three steals) remains in sixth place all-time for career steals at UO (now with 131 steals in 62 games). He recently moved by Aaron Brooks who recorded 127 steals in 115 career games. Anthony Taylor ranks fifth with 147 steals in 115 career games.
