Postgame Quotes
February 26, 2011 - Matthew Knight Arena
----------------------------------------------
Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
On Senior Day:
“First of all, that's not how Senior Day is supposed to go. I feel really bad for Joevan and Jay-R.”
On tonight's performance:
“I don't want to take anything away from Stanford. A lot of the things we were doing well earlier: taking away some good looks and flying around, we just didn't do. We just got to take a day here, take tomorrow off and come back Monday and work.”
“We didn't do those things defensively and on the board like we talked about. Maybe our confidence offensively gave us an altered perception of where we were. We weren't the same team tonight that has been flying around.”
On Joevan Catron:
“We're just a different team when he's in there. Tonight we weren't able to do much inside, they beat him around pretty good in there.“
On the game:
“Offensively, the last two games we scored enough points. Our problems tonight were more defensive, we were outrebounded. They got the 8 blocked shots which changed the game and turned it around a little bit.”
On Stanford player Josh Owen's outstanding performance:
“Josh Owens was a big factor inside today. He made shots and got the boards which were the deciding factors. Anytime someone gets 31-11 they dominated the game and he definitely did.”
On how the Ducks can compete better:
“It's not like we are beating people with our size. We are beating people with our energy and fight. We have to go back and do a better job next week.”
----------------------------------------------
Senior Guard Jay-R Strowbridge
On what the team needs to improve on:
“We have to sharpen up on offensive and defense. We need to get our defense going and get rebounds.”
“We need to go back to the basics and lock down defensively.”
On what's next:
“We need to keep moving forward for Arizona State and get back to work on Monday. We have to learn from these two games and great ready for the Arizona trip now.”
On Senior Day:
“I laid it all out there today, but there is still always room for improvement. We just have to move forward and it won't happen again.”
----------------------------------------------
Freshman Guard Johnathan Loyd
On the game:
“We knew what we had to do, but we didn't execute on either side of the ball.”
On Stanford's Josh (Owens):
“He was a beast in the middle. He rebounded a lot, got a double-double and was playing harder than we were; their whole team was playing harder than we were.”
On Senior Day:
“We wanted to get them a big win tonight. I felt terrible that we couldn't do that for Jay-R (Strowbridge) and Joevan (Catron). We felt horrible that we couldn't get them a win on their way out.”
On what's next:
“We've lost our edge and we need to get it back. We need to play with a chip on our shoulder.”
