Postgame Quotes
February 19, 2011 - Matthew Knight Arena

Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
On standout performances:
“In was a special performance for Jay-R and Malcolm. When we came out flat, they got the energy back in the building.”
On the offense:
“Nineteen assists on twenty-five baskets… that's pretty good. That's moving the ball really well and it started with Malcolm. He really got things going and made a lot of good plays for guys.”
On Jay-R's performance:
“Jay-R got off to a terrible start this season. He broke his nose and dislocated his thumb before the season even started. I think his injuries made him lose some confidence. Today he was the difference in the game. He's been great for our team even through the injuries. Since he's gotten healthy he's been a big difference.”
On Joevan Catron:
“We still relied on Joevan this game. They (Oregon State) had to know where Joevan was at all times. We have other guys that can step up but our main game is to get Joevan the ball which opens up lots of other guys.”
On the win:
“I'm really happy for the guys. December was a rough month for us. To come out and do this is a testament to how bad they want to win.”
On the crowd:
“To have a full house with the Pit Crew and fans being so great, and to see those two seniors play like that, it was a lot of fun for the guys.”
On a high shooting percentage:
“Confidence comes from being prepared and if you put extra time in you're going to be confident. We have a lot of guys who are putting the extra time in.”
-----------------------------------------------------
Senior Guard Jay-R Strowbridge
On the game:
“My teammates made plays for me. They found me open and I just kept making them. I couldn't have done it without my teammates. Our defensive rebounds were keys to winning.”
On the Civil War:
“I know the meaning of the Civil War, it's a big game and I'm a senior and I wanted to play it well. I wanted to.”
On the team:
“We believe in each other now, we believe and can see that hard work pays off. I appreciate everyone coming out for the Civil War.”
On his great game:
“It wasn't just me. My team got me the ball and it just went in. But the beauty of our team is that it can be anyone having a big game any day, we have good shooters. We are making plays for one another and being unselfish.”

Sophomore Forward E.J. Singler
On beating Oregon State:
“It always feels good beating your rival at home, it's great.”
On the game:
“This win puts us in a great position; we have momentum going the end of the season and into the post season. A lot of people hit big shots today.”
On the postseason:
“We're looking to get into the NCAA or the NTI tournament; we have our sights set on doing well in postseason.”
On Jay-R Strowbridge:
“Jay-R was on fire tonight. Everyone knew it and good teams get the ball to the guy with the hot hand and we did that today.”
On the year:
“We have great seniors; Jay-R and Joevan (Catron) have done a great job leading us. We've stayed true to who we are and believed in Coach (Altman) and his philosophy and it has played off.”

Oregon State Head Coach Craig Robinson
On the game:
“The one thing I will say about… the global game of basketball is that you can't be able to win this game without making shots. And we couldn't make shots and they did and particularly Strowbridge. He's just terrific. They shot 50 percent from the three point line. They made three points and we didn't.”
On being down in points before making a change:
“That's always been the way and we have to somehow shake that.”
On timeouts:
“In our timeouts we are very specific about what we want to do. I don't know if it was the newness of the arena the enormity of the civil war or we weren't out on out game, and I'll take the blame for that.”
On OSU's Defense:
“They shot the ball really well. And, let's say we played defense better than we did today, if they shot 50% today, they would have shot 40%. We would have been able to stop a couple of those but I don't want to take anything away from those guys. They were very well prepared and they made shots when they had to make shots.”
On UO's season:
“I think they got off to a slow start but that happens. I think teams have an ebb and flow during the season and their season is great right now. They're flowing and we're ebbing.”
On the rest of OSU's season:
“We still have games to play. And the great thing about our conference is we have a conference tournament. The light bulb could come on. We're hoping it does but we have to do some soul searching and see what we want to do with the rest of this season.”
On the team:
“I know what I don't want is for all of these guys to get discouraged. We have a real young group and they're playing the majority of the minutes and I don't want them to get discouraged. This is a tough league no matter how weak or strong it is. It's always going to be a tough league.”
