DUCKS SNAP ROAD LOSING STREAK AT STANFORD
Four Ducks scored in double figures led by senior forward Joevan Catron's team-high 15 points in a 67-59 road win over Stanford on Thursday night. Oregon's last road win over the Cardinal was back on Jan. 13, 1986, an 83-69 result.
Senior guard Jay-R Strowbridge (13 points), Malcolm Armstead and Garrett Sim (10 points) joined Catron in double-figures. The Ducks shot a season-best from behind the 3-point arc at 52.9 percent (9-of-17).
The Stanford-California road trip has been a difficult one for the Ducks, with their last sweep of the Bay Area schools coming during the 1975-76 season. That team was led by head coach Dick Harter and featured the likes of Ron Lee and Greg Ballard. In that road sweep, the Ducks posted a 75-64 win over Cal (Feb. 13) and an 84-62 win at Stanford (Feb. 14).
UPCOMING GAMES FOR THE DUCKS
Following this week's road trip, UO will play five of its next seven contests at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. The Ducks will host Washington State (Feb. 3) and Washington (Feb. 5), before returning to the road for games at UCLA (Feb. 10) and USC (Feb. 12). UO then hosts three straight against Oregon State (Feb. 19), Cal (Feb. 24) and Stanford (Feb. 26).
OREGON'S PAC-10 STATISTICAL RANKINGS
UO compares favorably with their Pac-10 foes in several statistical categories, ranking second in free throw shooting (.731, 266-of-364), steals (8.3 spg, 166), offensive rebounds (12.1, 243) and turnover margin (+3.4, 259-327) while ranking fifth in blocks (3.1, 61).
Senior forward Joevan Catron ranks sixth in scoring (15.4 ppg, 277) and offensive rebounds (2.7 orpg, 50). Sophomore forward E.J. Singler is fourth in free throw percentage (.819, 59-of-72) and tied for ninth in blocks (0.9 bpg, 19). Junior guard Malcolm Armstead is third in steals (1.9 spg, 37) and seventh in assists (3.5 apg, 66). Junior guard Teondre Williams has the third-best 3-point field goal percentage (.436, 17-of-39), but does not have enough attempts to qualify for the rankings.
OFFSEASON ADDITIONS PROVIDING A SPARK FOR UO
Senior guard Jay-R Strowbridge, junior forward Tyrone Nared and freshman guard Johnathan Loyd have made an impact on the 2010-11 Oregon lineup.
Strowbridge has played in all 20 games, a starter in seven contests. He is UO's third leading scorer (8.4 ppg), shooting 75.8 percent on free throws (25-of-33). He is coming off back-to-back double figure scoring efforts, recording 13 points at Stanford and 15 points at Oregon State.
