Head Coach Paul Westhead
On win:
“It was an improvement for us to be able to turn around 1st half losses we encountered in Arizona. Our players had better effort; we had 6 players with double figures.”
“Our young assistant always hands out sheets before games and tonight it had synergy on it. We had good synergy and we were helping each other.”
“I am not a big stat guy; our 2nd half production has been frequently less, but not today. There were signs of playing better basketball.”
On players' performances:
“Our players find openings. I kept trying to rest our bigs, but they would make three baskets before I could take them out. Whatever name I called, scored. I am happy for Amanda Johnson that she got her game going. Taylor Lilley had a silent 15, but effective.”
On pace of game:
“The pace eventually got to Arizona. Our 2nd half pace got to them, as a group. We did not play flawless, but the pace hurt them. The irony is the pace hurt us in Arizona.”
On 18 turnovers:
“That is too many. My goal is around 11 or 12 per game, and our pace should minimize it. We are still in the pace of getting it, but we will.”
On looking ahead:
“We should be able to handle fast games. As the season progresses, we will not lose games because of the pace hurting us. That being said, we have to earn it. We cannot just run up and down the court and not do good things.”
On Taylor Lilley's game:
“We have to find ingenious ways of getting her the ball. Her ability of finding open people helps our game, our synergy and it helps her too.”
On Nia Jackson:
“She makes things happen folks. I am so glad she could come back. She needed that game to reestablish her wind and readiness. She will be ready on Saturday.”
#32 Guard Nia Jackson
On feel of game:
“It felt great to be playing because I did not practice all week. I was a little winded, but it was fun. I was pleased with what we did. I knew I was for sure going to play.”
“If you keep pressure and run 40 minutes, you get steals and that is when you will break the game open. That was good to see.”
“We had energy on the bench, and that was great to see. A lot of people were in the double digits and it was good to see everyone sharing the ball.”
On improvement in rebounding:
“I think we won the rebounding war. Victoria had many open looks.”
