Oregon - Portland State Postgame Quotes
12/06/10 | Men's Basketball
Oregon 68 - Portland State 49
December 5, 2010
Eugene, Ore.
Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
On the game:
“It was a slow start; I thought we had better moments in the second half. We stopped them defensively at mid court for about five minutes and made some easy baskets off of the turnovers. We executed better and forced some turnovers, but it's just a start. We had a sense of urgency in the second half and made some good reads and made some good plays.”
On Jeremy Jacob:
“He gave us fourteen productive minutes; he had a great game for us. He said his knee doesn't hurt, it's just stiff. This will be an important week for him to rehab his knee and get it ready to go.”
On the first half:
“We had some good stops and got eleven turnovers, but our eight turnovers didn't allow us to get anything going offensively. We got into foul trouble early in the first half, which hurt our depth.”
----------------
Joevan Catron:
On the game:
“We picked up our defense at half. We weren't sharp in the first half; coach told us it was our effort defensively. We had a sense of urgency for this game to show everyone what we can do.”
On fighting bigger guys:
“I get used to fighting big guys, I pick a spot and then I use my quickness to get baskets. I go for quick shots because they can't keep up.”
----------------
Garrett Sim:
On the game:
“We (the team) came up with important shots down the stretch. We were not bringing effort defensively and blocking out in the first half. When you make stops defensively then you get things going on offense and make shots.”
On his shot:
“I'm not worried about my shot, I just have to keep shooting and it'll go in. Coach just tells me to keep shooting.”
On the football team's success:
“I'm proud of those guys. We just want to bring the same energy and enthusiasm to the basketball program.”
