LOOKING AHEAD AT THE SCHEDULE
Oregon will take a short break for the holidays before returning to play the last two men's basketball games scheduled at Mac Court. The Ducks will host Arizona on Dec. 30 and Arizona State on Jan. 1. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. (PT). CATRON AVERAGING CAREER BESTS
Senior forward Joevan Catron has now played in 107 career games averaging career-bests for points (17.5 ppg), rebounds (6.6 rpg) and field goal shooting percentage (.542, 65-of-120). He leads the team in scoring, rebounding, field goals attempted and field goals made, and is second in shooting percentage and minutes played (27.6 mpg).
Catron, who was awarded a medical hardship in the offseason, has scored in double-figures in 10 of the 11 games in 2010-11. Four of his five career 20-point games occurred this season. He's led UO in scoring 11 times in his career, eight of those have come in 2010-11.
Catron has scored 61.9 percent of his points after halftime, with 119 of his 192 total points coming during the final 20 minutes (and OT). In an overtime win over North Dakota State, he tallied 16 of his career-best 27 points in the second half, making all five of his field goal attempts in the second stanza. Catron also scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half of a home loss to San Jose State.
UO'S PAC-10 STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Oregon compares favorably to their Pac-10 counterparts in several statistical categories. The Ducks are second in free throw shooting percentage (.717, 170-of-237), third in turnover margin (+3.5, 146-185), fourth in offensive rebounding (12.1 orpg, 133) and fourth in defensive rebounding percentage (.710, 264-of-372).
Senior forward Joevan Catron ranks third in scoring (17.5 ppg) and offensive rebounds (3.0 orpg), and 10th in total rebounding (6.6 rpg). Sophomore forward E.J. Singler is third in 3-point shooting percentage (.500), tied for third in free throw shooting percentage (.816) and eighth in blocks (1.0 bpg). Junior guard Malcolm Armstead is tied for fifth in steals (1.8 spg) and sixth in assists (4.1 apg).
SINGLER STEPS INTO KEY ROLE
Sophomore forward E.J. Singler leads the team in blocks (1.0 bpg), field goal percentage (.556, 45-of-81) and 3-point field goal percentage (.500, 15-of-30). He also ranks second on the team in scoring (12.4 ppg) and total rebounding (6.5 rpg).
Singler has reached double figures in scoring nine times in 11 games. The 6-6 swingman from Medford, Ore., had opened the season by scoring in double figures in each of the first seven games.
In the near upset of No. 9 Missouri, Singler tallied a career-best 19 points to go with nine rebounds. Last week he posted an 18-point, 17-rebound (career high) effort in the blowout win over Willamette. That single-game rebound total ties Singler for the top performance amongst Pac-10 players this season (with Arizona State's Kyle Cain, 17 vs. Houston Baptist, 11-25-10).
