Oregon - Jacksonville State postgame quotes
12/14/10 | Men's Basketball
Oregon 74, Jacksonville State 56
Dec. 13, 2010 - Eugene, Ore.
---------------
Head Coach Dana Altman
On playing away at Virginia:
“We need to go on the road but it was important to learn our new system and play these games at home… [Virginia] They're coming off two big wins and they're a big physical team, a good text because of our lack of size not only height but width.”
On sharing the ball:
“I thought our shot selection was good we just made plays for each other…thought our ball movement was much better…20 assists on 29 points is by far our best ratio.”
On the quick start and bench:
“It was nice to get off on the right foot, we played well early… however the guys coming off the bench did not play well and I was disappointed, they let the starters get their lead but our bench did not play well tonight.”
---------------
Joevan Catron
On the game:
“At times we got sloppy and got relaxed when we got up, Coach got on us about that because we can't do that in conference play.”
On Jacksonville State's rebounding:
“They out rebounded us, we can't do that against bigger teams, we need to box out.”
On playing Virginia:
“They're big; I don't know much else about them yet. It'll be a good test to go on the road against an ACC team; it's good to play good teams before we head into Pac-10 play.”
---------------
Garrett Sim
On the game:
“We played unselfish tonight and it showed, it gave us some easy baskets.”
On the positives of team:
“We're buying into coach and his system. It was all new at first, but now we're getting comfortable in it and knowing our place.”
On what still needs to improve:
“We need to block out better because we're a small team. We're giving up too many baskets in the paint.”
On Coach's system:
“Coach is a big believer in a defensive mind and the offense will come. We know our system can work and can tire people out and gets us easy baskets.”
On what's next:
“We're expecting Virginia's best; it will be a tough game. We're in a good place right now if we execute these next few games and get wins going into Pac-10 play.”
