Oregon - UC Santa Barbara postgame quotes
11/15/10 | Men's Basketball
Oregon – UC Santa Barbara
Postgame Quotes - Eugene Ore.
--------------
Dana Altman, Oregon Head Coach
On the game:
“Good win for us. We didn't do a good job of keeping it out of the hands of their big scorers, but it was a good win.”
On the team:
“Jeremy Jacob is coming back in a few weeks and we'll get Jay-R healthy this week, we'll have a whole week to improve. We are still way behind where we want to be.”
On Joevan Catron:
“The win is credit to Joevan, he did a great job. I hope the guys take on his personality and mentality, he played really well all three games.”
On what needs to improve:
“We need to quit making so many defensive mistakes, mainly awareness mistakes and not getting ready, but we can make progress there. Offense will take more time to improve. We have to do a better job on the boards and have to get all the guys in on rebounding, not just Joevan (Catron) and E.J. (Singler). We need to do a better job with three point shots and getting them (the team) in the right places for three's.”
On the week overall:
“I like the way Joevan set the tone for us and at half we come back defensively. We find ways to win games and fight back after half, we're getting better.”

Teondre Williams, F #22
On Starting out 3-0:
“It's good; we started this way last year, this year we just have to keep it up. We just have to take it day by day. ”
On three straight three pointers at the beginning of the second half:
“I just tried to get a spark going for my team.”
On his starting role this year:
“Starting or not I'm just trying to help my team out anyway I can.”
On his team:
“We fight a lot harder in the second half, but we need to start out the first better. Johnathan made some good plays and steals.”
On Joevan Catron:
“He's been a big brother to all of us; he knows what it takes because he's been to Elite Eight performances. Coaches preach for us to have his great mind set.”
--------------
Joevan Catron, C #34
On this year:
“It's great to be playing in Mac Court, playing the game I love.”
On the game:
“The coaches preached for us to get the stops to get the win and we got the stops on defense. It's amazing how we grind through to get the win; it makes us tighter when we fight together.”
Starting off 3-0:
“It's a good way to start off, but we have lots of work to do, we have to take it one game at a time and just get ready for San Jose State.”
On his role on the team:
“I try to be a leader and be a big brother to everyone. I just make sure things don't get too out of hand.”
