WBB UO 88, Boise State 61
12/05/09 | Women's Basketball
UO v. Boise State
88-61
12/04/2009
Eugene, Ore.
Head Coach Paul Westhead
On last night's Civil War game:
“Go Ducks! It is good for the university, good for women's basketball, and good for Eugene. I am really happy for Chip and the team. It is a pleasure to be around them.”
On performance:
“Our run had to be sharp. We have been pushing the ball well all season, now it is about sustaining it for 40 minutes. Our players did not have enough energy to play, but the running game (in 1st half) helped us tonight.”
On defense and forced turnovers:
“Pressing had an impact. They (Boise State) did not seem to get into their rhythm. In the 1st half they were chasing us, and were not getting good shots. The 2nd half they were getting easier shots. I am pleased we took the game over.”
On season goals:
“Our goal is we want to deny the inbounds pass every time. If we get good at that we will see frustration from the other team and even the officials.”
On playing many games in a short time span:
“They have sustained themselves pretty well; three (games) in three nights and three (games) in six days. But, we have not reached the 40 minute level, and it is probably understandable.”
#30 Jasmin Holliday
On 1st half vs. 2nd half:
“The 1st half we really got after it quickly. We got after their bigs.”
“The 2nd half they did get more offensive rebounds. We need to work on boxing out.”
On tonight's energy:
“Today's game made up for last game. We all really respect him.”
On gaining confidence:
“All of us are getting confidence. We all have the green light to shoot.”
#1 Taylor Lilley
On tonight's game:
“We came out shooting well. The 2nd half we were not shooting as well. The 1st half we were getting back out fast and sharp.”
On many games in a short window:
“With how many games and practices we are having, it is really helping a lot and we are learning a lot from each game.”
