PORTLAND PREVIEW
Oregon leads the all-time series with Portland 21-4, and last season defeated the Pilots, 64-55, at McArthur Court.
Portland (3-2) is on a three-game winning streak with victories over Air Force, Sacramento State and Portland State.
Lauren Angel leads the Pilots averaging 13.2 points per game, while Laiken Dollente adds 12.8 points and 4.6 assists per game.
BOISE STATE PREVIEW
Boise State is currently receiving votes in the latest Associated Press Top-25 poll with an undefeated record of 7-0.
The Broncos have a win over Portland State, 92-80, and most recently defeated Washington State, 68-64, last Sunday at the Lady Rebel Round-Up in Las Vegas.
Oregon leads the all-time series 8-4, but the Broncos won the last meeting with a 56-47 victory in Eugene on Nov. 24, 2006.
LONG BEACH STATE PREVIEW
Long Beach State is led by former USC assistant Jody Wynn. The 49ers are 3-3 and are led by Karina Figueroa's 18.2 points per game.
Long Beach State leads the all-time series 5-3, but the Ducks have won the last three meetings. Oregon last picked up a win over the 49ers on Nov. 29, 2007 by the score of 66-45 in Eugene.
PRESEASON POLL
Oregon was selected to finish eighth in the both the Pac-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll and the Pac-10 Preseason Media Poll.
The results are not a surprise citing UO's finish to the 2008-09 season which included dropping its final six games of the season and losing 10 of the final 11 tilts of the year.
UO CURRENT STATUS
• Oregon is averaging 86.8 points per game to lead the Pac-10.
• On Nov. 23, junior forward Nicole Canepa was named Pac-10 Player of the Week. It was the Ducks' first selection in over two years.
• Oregon finished last week 3-1 with wins over Santa Clara, Cal State Fullerton and Portland State, and a one-point loss to Wisconsin. The Ducks were the runner ups at the World Vision Invitational, with sophomore forward Amanda Johnson and junior forward Nicole Canepa named to the all-tournament team.
• Oregon is now 5-1 and off to its best start since 2006-07.
• In last Friday's win over Cal State Fullerton, the Ducks scored 117 points, the second highest scoring total in program history. The record is 121 points vs. Hawai'i on Jan. 16, 1979.
SCORING TOUCH
• Oregon is defeating its opponents by an average of 22.7 points per game, good for second in the Pac-10 behind Stanford (28.7). The Ducks are shooting .430 (3rd Pac-10) from the floor, and defensively lead the conference holding opponents to a .318 shooting percentage.
• Sophomore Amanda Johnson has now posted four double-doubles this season and is one of three players in the Pac-10 averaging a double-double. Johnson, who was named to the World Vision Invitational all-tournament team, is now averaging 14.3 points (9th Pac-10) and 11.8 rebounds (2nd Pac-10) per game. The Santa Rosa, Calif., native also leads the Ducks and ranks second in the conference with four double-figure rebounding games.
• Senior sharpshooter Taylor Lilley leads all active Pac-10 players with 166 career three pointers. She needs to knock down 24 to break the UO all time record, and 35 to crack the Pac-10 all-time top-10. No Oregon player is currently in the Pac-10 career three-point field goals made top-10.
Lilley also recorded her 900th career point in Sunday's 87-58 win over Portland State. She could become the 21st player to reach the 1,000-point club in UO history. Currently her 903 points are fifth among active players in the Pac-10.
Her 3.3 three-pointers per game currently lead the Pac-10, and her 14.8 points per game tie for sixth.
OFF THE BENCH
Junior forward Nicole Canepa is tied for the team lead and tied for sixth in the Pac-10, averaging 14.8 points per game. Her 8.2 rebounds per game rank 10th in the conference. Last week, the San Francisco native was named to the World Vision Invitational all-tournament team after averaging 11.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
ON A ROLL
Senior guard Micaela Cocks is currently averaging 12.7 points per game, 12th in the Pac-10. The 2008 Olympian, is on a 22-game streak with at least one three pointer that dates back to last season.
She is also the only player on the Oregon squad to reach double figures in every game so far this season.
FAST BREAK LEADER
Oregon point guard Nia Jackson emerged last Sunday with career and game highs in points (16) and assists (7) during the Ducks' 87-58 win over Portland State. The Seattle native also tied a career high with seven rebounds.
Leading the fast break and keeping the pace of the squad isn't easy, but Jackson's numbers are holding up in the Pac-10. Her 4.0 assists per game rank third, and her 2.7 steals per game tie for fourth.
AVAILABILITY/STATUS
Oregon will have 13 of its 14 players available for this week's games. The Ducks will be without freshman Aliyah Green, who is still returning from an ACL injury suffered in her right knee during her senior season at Jefferson High School. Green's return date is unknown at this time.
RECORDS IN JEOPARDY
With the senior guard combination of Micaela Cocks and Taylor Lilley patrolling the three-point line, it's no doubt that some records are in jeopardy this season.
Lilley's 166 career three-pointers rank fourth all-time in Oregon history, and in order to become the all-time leader, Lilley needs to knock down 24 for the record - surpassing Missy Croshaw (1990-94, 189). Lilley also has the chance to crack the top-10 for double-figure scoring games. Currently with 45 games of double-digit scoring, Lilley would need to hit double figures in 24 dates to crack the career top-10.
Cocks has the opportunity to claim two all-time records. Her current .851 (137-of-161) career free-throw percentage would set a new program record. In addition, if she sinks at least 61 three-pointers during her senior season, she could potentially become the program's all-time leader. Cocks' current .382 three-point field goal percentage ranks seventh all-time. If she plays in a minimum of 25 games this year, Cocks could also crack the career games played top-10.
WORLD VISION INVITATIONAL
The Oregon women's basketball program would like to thank all fans that donated to “Operation Safety Net” during last weekend's World Vision Invitational.
World Vision raised $1,083 during the tournament enough to provide a net of protection for 180 children and one adult. One net covers two people.
