Ducks End Regular Season With Loss To No. 32 Huskies

SEATTLE - Oregon finished its regular season with a 7-0 loss to No. 32 Washington on Saturday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Ducks regular season ends with an overall record of 11-14 and an 0-7 mark in Pac-10 action. The Huskies (14-9, 2-5 Pac-10) snapped a three-match slide with the win, as the Pac-10 championships are set to begin on Thursday.
Washington's Derek Drabble provided the clinching win at No. 4 singles, defeating Geoff Embry, 6-4, 6-2. Drabble trailed 2-4 in the first set before winning 10 of the final 12 games.
His win came moments after the Huskies' Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan wrapped up a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles over Francisco Gallardo.
Oregon's Alex Cornelissen had UW's Andy Kuharszky down a set on court No. 3, but the senior fought back
to upend Cornelissen, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
For just the third time all season, Washington's Patrik Fischer was forced to go three sets. The 86th-ranked player in the country overcame a valiant effort from Oregon's Marcos Verdasco at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2,
Also victorious was junior David Chu, 6-3, 7-6 (1) over Oregon's Romeo Mortera at No. 5, and Washington's Martin Kildahl, who recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory at sixth singles over the Ducks' Mike Myrhed.
A hard-fought doubles point went Washington's way after the freshmen duo of Tobi Obenaus and Martin Kildahl clinched with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. Prior to that, Fischer and Nedunchezhiyan went to work for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Verdasco and Cornelissen.
Oregon scored the No. 2 doubles win, 8-6, as Embry and Mortera defeated Kuharszky and Drabble, 8-6, on court No. 2. The tandem has won their last three doubles matches, all in Pac-10 action.
