04/03/05 | Women's Golf
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Erin Andrews shot a 1-over 73 to finish tied for ninth, but Oregon struggled for the second day in a row and finished 12th after shooting an 18-over 306 during Sunday's final round of the Ping/ASU Invitational.
Andrews had three birdies and four bogeys on Sunday. The junior from Las Vegas, Nev., finished at 4-over 220 for the event and recorded her best finish since tying for seventh at the 2004 Oregon Duck Invitational.
No 7 Arizona State, the host team, shot a final round of even par 288 and tied No. 2 UCLA atop the final standings at 870. The Sun Devils were then declared the winner by virtue of their lower fifth-player score tie-breaker.
No. 5 Pepperdine finished third at 888, followed by No. 19 Arizona at 891, California at 894 and No. 8 Washington at 895. No. 18 USC was seventh at 896, with No. 24 Tulsa (899), No. 20 Stanford (900) and No. 22 Texas (905) rounding out the top 10.
Twelfth-ranked New Mexico was 11th at 907, one shot better than the Ducks' 908.
UO senior Johnna Nealy, from Grants Pass, Ore., finished tied for 28th at 225 after shooting a 79 Sunday.
Louise Stahle of Arizona State won individual medalist honors at 7-under 209. Stahle shot a final round 71 and clipped Amie Cochran of UCLA by three strokes.
Oregon has one final tournament, the April 9-10 Peg Barnard Challenge, prior to the Pac-10 Championships, which begin April 18 in Pleasanton, Calif.
