
No. 6 Arizona Slides Past Ducks

EUGENE, Ore. ? The University of Oregon volleyball team fought hard, but failed to solve the sixth-ranked Arizona Wildcats in falling 3-1 Friday at McArthur Court.
The Wildcats (21-5, 13-4 Pac-10), behind 25 kills from senior hitter Kim Glass, needed four games to put away the spirited Ducks (12-17, 1-16), 30-25, 30-24, 29-31, 30-26.
Oregon was led by freshman hitter Mira Djuric, who posted team-highs of 16 kills and 20.5 points.
Seniors Kelly Russell and Jaclyn Jones also had productive nights offensively. Russell had 14 kills and hit .371, and Jones notched 13 kills.
Freshman libero Katie Swoboda had another strong defensive showing for Oregon, posting a match-high 15 digs.
The Ducks hit an impressive .393 in Game 2, only to be outdone by the Wildcats, who hit a blistering .577. For the match, UA had a .331 percentage, while Oregon's attack succeeded at a .215 clip.
Oregon will wrap up the 2005 season Saturday night as Arizona State (7-20, 2-15) pays a visit to McArthur Court. The Sun Devils were swept by Oregon State on Friday.
