
Ducks Drop Regular Season Finale to No. 22 Huskies

SEATTLE, Wash. ? After defeating No. 22 Washington earlier this season, the Oregon men's tennis team failed to come away with the sweep, losing, 6-1. The Ducks (9-10, 1-6) won the doubles point but lost all six singles matches.
In doubles, Oregon came out fast, with Sven Swinnen and Arron Spencer defeating the No. 43-ranked team of Alex Vlaski and Daniel Chu, 8-2. The duo wrap up the dual season with a 15-4 record. At the No. 2 position, Manuel Kost and Markus Schiller won in clutch fashion, upending UW's Alex Slovic and Nick Weiss, 9-8.
In singles, the Ducks has no answers for the Huskies. No. 88 Kost had defeated No. 9 Vlaski earlier this season (4/29), but this time around was defeated, 6-1, 7-6. Kost finishes the dual season with a 14-5 record.
At the No. 2 position, No. 35 Swinnen suffered only his third dual loss of the season (16-3), losing to No. 42 Slovic, 6-1, 7-5.
The Ducks put up a good fight at No. 3 through No. 6, but came away empty handed. Thomas Bieri and Spencer both lost in three sets, while Schiller and Chris King lost in two.
"I am extremely proud of our guys," Oregon head coach Chris Russell said. "Washington played about as well as anyone, we just could not get any breaks."
Up next, the Ducks will head to Ojai, Calif. for the Pac-10 Conference Tournament, April 22-25.
