Will Patterson

Will Patterson joined the Oregon athletic communications office as director of communications in September 2021 and is the primary media contact for UO men’s basketball and men’s tennis.
Prior to joining the staff, Patterson spent seven years in the Los Angeles Lakers media relations department, where he served as media relations manager from 2017-21 and was responsible for all team publications, while coordinating team and staff media requests and appearances, including those during the Lakers 2020 NBA championship run.
During those years, Patterson was the team’s media relations representative for major events such as NBA All-Star, NBA Draft and Summer League, and was selected by the NBA communications office to assist with the 2018 NBA Finals.
Patterson worked as media relations coordinator for the team from 2016-17, managing all gameday credentialing, department interns and historical publications. He got his start with the franchise as media relations coordinator for the South Bay Lakers from 2014-16, overseeing media relations, social media and community outreach.
The Conway, Ark. native spent one season as a communications intern with the Charlotte Hornets (2013-14), helping spearhead the teams re-brand efforts as they transitioned from the Bobcats to the Hornets.
A 2013 graduate from the University of Arkansas, Patterson earned his bachelor of arts degree in communication, while working as a student assistant within the athletic department throughout his tenure in Fayetteville.
