- Senior Associate Athletic Director, Equipment Operations and Championships
Aaron Wasson joined the University of Oregon in August 2011 as the Director of Equipment Operations and currently serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Equipment Operations and Championships. In this role, he manages the day-to-day relationship with Nike, overseeing contract obligations, licensing, artwork approvals, and team allotments. He is also responsible for the planning, budgeting, and execution of new uniforms, apparel, and footwear for Oregon's athletic programs. Additionally, he serves as the athletics department's primary licensing and branding liaison with the University’s Office of Marketing and Brand Strategy.
Wasson supervises the equipment staff across all sports, ensuring every program is equipped with the necessary resources and that all branding aligns with the university's standards. In addition to his equipment and brand management responsibilities, Wasson is a key member of the senior leadership team under Athletic Director Rob Mullens. Wasson also serves as the sport administrator for the softball program, providing oversight and support for the team.
As part of his senior staff responsibilities, Wasson leads the administrative team when hosting postseason Big Ten Conference, NCAA and CFP championships, coordinating event logistics, ensuring compliance with tournament regulations, and overseeing the overall execution of championship events.
Wasson played a critical role in the development of the Marcus Mariota Sports Performance Center, where he served on the planning committee and guided the layout, design, and functionality of the award-winning facility, which opened in August 2016.
Before joining the Ducks, Wasson spent seven years full-time at the University of Kentucky, where he honed his expertise in equipment operations and athletic administration. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management from Midway College and a Master’s Degree in Sport Leadership from the University of Kentucky.
Wasson resides in Eugene with his wife, Bonnie, and their son, Dakota James.
