O Show Nominees: Best Team
06/01/26 | General
The UO athletic department will hold its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, June 2.
On Tuesday, June 2, the UO athletic department will stage the annual O Show, a traditional end-of-year celebration of the accomplishments of Oregon student-athletes both in athletics and academics.
Nominations for the various awards to be handed out Tuesday were made through the coaching staffs and academic advisors of all teams, with the award winners selected through a vote of student-athletes and department staff. There are also awards for coaches, faculty and support staff who go above and beyond to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience.
Due to the timing of the show, accomplishments from the beginning of May 2025 through the end of April 2026 are considered for the honors. In the days leading up to the show, we'll preview some of the awards to be handed out Tuesday.
Today's category: Best Team.
And the nominees are …
FOOTBALL
Finished 13-2 with a No. 5 final national ranking in a season that included the program's two College Football Playoff victories. Dan Lanning's Ducks won the Orange Bowl 23-0 over Texas Tech before reaching the CFP semifinals at the Peach Bowl, completing a second consecutive 13-win season.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Captured the 2026 Big Ten Indoor team title and finished as runner-up at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Won four event championships in Fayetteville — the mile (Wilma Nielsen), the pentathlon (Liisa-Maria Lusti), the 60-meter hurdles (Aaliyah McCormick) and the distance medley relay — and added a top-10 finish at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Won the 2026 Big Ten Indoor team title for the second consecutive season and finished as runner-up at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Headlined by Peyton Bair's record-breaking heptathlon national title — surpassing Ashton Eaton's Oregon school record in the process — and a fourth-place finish from freshman Ben Smith in the shot put.
WOMEN'S GOLF
The 2025 squad made the Final Four for the third time in four seasons. The 2026 team entered the postseason ranked No. 3 nationally with runner-up team finishes in three of six tournaments through the regular season, led by world No. 1 amateur Kiara Romero, who broke the program's career individual wins record during the season.
