Butler Garners SA National Player of the Week Award
04/07/26 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – A day after being named the Big Ten Conference's player of the week, Elon Butler was selected as the national player of the week by Softball America.
Butler became the first player in program history to hit for the cycle when she accomplished that feat Saturday against Iowa. She also broke a Big Ten and school single-game record with six hits in that game. Her four runs scored against the Hawkeyes tied a program record.
For the weekend, Butler hit .583 with a double, a triple, two home runs and five RBI. She slugged 1.333 and had a .583 on-base percentage.
In the series opener, Butler led off the bottom of the first with a home run as the Ducks went on to a 10-1 win.
Saturday, Butler singled in the first, tripled in the second, homered in the fourth and doubled in the seventh for her cycle. It was Butler's double in the seventh that started Oregon's 4-run rally to tie the game. The Ducks trailed 13-9 entering the home half of the seventh.
She then singled with one out in bottom of the eighth before scoring the winning run on a sacrifice fly.
Butler leads the Big Ten and is third nationally with 16 doubles. She leads the Ducks in batting average (.437), runs (46), hits (52), home runs (12), RBI (48), slugging percentage (.924) and on-base percentage (.527).
Oregon travels to Maryland for a three-game series beginning Friday (3 p.m. PT, Big Ten Network).
