Ducks Split Two at Mustang Roundup

Daley McClellan is the fifth player in program history to reach 30 career wins.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team split two matches Friday at the Mustang Roundup hosted by Cal Poly at the Swanson Complex in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Ducks got their day started with a victory over UC Davis before falling to Santa Clara. Oregon is now 6-9 through its first 15 matches of the season.
Match 14: Oregon 4, UC Davis 1
The Aggies were the first team on the scoreboard with a win at No. 4 pairs but Oregon responded with a straight-set win—21-11, 21-19—by Daley McClellan and Elsa Snipes on court two. In the top spot of the lineup, Liz Rossi and AJ Slojkowski secured the Ducks' second point with a sweep of their own.
With the win, McClellan became the fifth player in program history to reach 30-career wins.
With Oregon leading 2-1, No. 3 and 5 pairs were being played out in a third set. It was the duo of Hanna Bjornson and Sofia Taylor that clinched the dual with a 21-18, 16-21, 15-12 decision on court three. The Ducks tacked on their fourth point when Landree Coats and Josie Griffiths closed out their No. 5 pairs at 21-18, 19-21, 15-12.

Four of the five matchups went to three sets. The Ducks won the first sets on courts two, three and five but Santa Clara forced a third in each case before coming away with the win. Santa Clara clinched at No. 5 pairs where Callie Loughran and Ava Stoddard just got past Coats and Griffiths—21-19, 19-21, 15-13.
