Landree Coats and Bella Gamache were 2-0 at No. 2 pairs Wednesday.
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oregon beach volleyball team lost two matches Wednesday on the opening day of the 2024 Pac-12 Championship in Tempe, Ariz. The Ducks started the day with a 3-1 setback to Utah, and then fell to No. 18 Arizona, also 3-1, in the contenders' bracket to bring their season to an end.
The pair of Landree Coats and Bella Gamache went 2-0 with a pair of three-set wins at the No. 2 spot in the UO lineup.
Match 1 | Utah 3, Oregon 1
Utah grabbed the first point of the dual with a win at No. 4 pairs but the Ducks pulled even thanks to a three-set win by Coats and Gamache on court two. The Oregon duo was down a set and match point in the second but put together a 3-0 run to force a decisive third frame.
Coats and Gamache jumped out to a 7-2 advantage in set three on their way to the 16-21, 22-20, 15-9 victory. It was the pair's second win against Utah this season having picked up a point at the No. 3 spot in the first meeting three weeks ago. Wednesday morning's result was their team-leading eighth win of the season.
However, Utah responded with sweeps at the No. 1 and 5 spots to clinch the dual and advance. Jensen Kaelin and Ashley Schroeder led 17-16 in the first set at No. 3 pairs when the match was decided.
