Harris Throws No-Hitter To Lead No. 22 Softball To 3-0 Win

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ? Oregon senior Amy Harris threw the program's 13th no-hitter to lead the 22nd-ranked University of Oregon softball team to 3-0 win over UC Santa Barbara Sunday afternoon in the Ducks' final game of the Palm Springs Classic.
Harris faced just two over the minium as one player reached on an Oregon error and another was hit by a pitch. The Eugene native had four strikeouts and walked none to improve to 6-4 overall this season. Harris' no-hitter is the first since 2004 and only the 13th ever in Oregon history.
For the first time in the tournament, the Ducks took the first lead of the game, going ahead 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI single by Beth Boskovich that scored Lovena Chaput.
Freshman Sari-Jane Jenkins hit her second home run of the season to put the Ducks ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning and senior Dani Baird added an RBI single that scored Chaput to make it 3-0 heading into the seventh.
Harris retired the side in the seventh to secure the win and the no hitter.
Offensively, Oregon was led by Chaput and Boskovich, who each went 2-for-3. Chaput scored two runs in the game and also added a double.
