Oregon's only standout ever to receive All-America accolades both on and off the field terrorized opposing
offensive and defensive linemen from 1960 through 1962. A marvelous student who earned first-team Academic All-
America laurels his senior year, Barnett twice was selected an All-American for his athletic exploits. He also was
elected to the Register-Guard's all-time Oregon football squad.
Steve earned All-Coast honors on three occasions, and was a starter on the 1960 Liberty Bowl squad. As a
senior, he was voted the recipient of the prestigious Emerald Trophy as the school's outstanding senior scholar athlete
and citizen. Looming as a major factor behind the Ducks= total offense school record in 1962, he was chosen
to play in the East-West Shrine Game, the Hula Bowl and the Coaches All-America games.
