Hall of Fame
Gale, Laddie

Laddie Gale
- Induction:
- 1993
He became the most highly decorated member of the Oregon-bred Tall Firs, the first NCAA basketball champion. As an all-America selection and the leading scorer for the fast-break 1938-39 squad, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, joining his coach, Howard Hobson, in that elite group in 1976.
He paced the Northern Division in scoring as one of the first players to use the one-handed shot, averaging nearly 12 points per game as a senior. The native of Oakridge was 6-4 and played forward on defense, but was moved to center when the Ducks had the ball because of his shooting skills and offensive moves.
