Oregon's first baseball All-American, one of the school's most prolific hitters ever pounded opposing pitchers for averages above .300 each of his three seasons. The three-time Pacific Coast Conference all-Northern Division performer led the division with a .439 batting average as a sophomore in 1951 before pacing the north in RBIs and home runs the following year. A charter inductee into the State of Oregon Hall of Fame, the outfielder/third baseman completed his collegiate career in the top-10 in hits (87) home runs (14) and RBIs (58) before playing professionally for 11 seasons with the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, California Angels and Philadelphia Phillies.
